Impact
We believe that doing well and doing good go hand-in-hand. Every product we move improves the livelihoods of both our shop owners and our end customers.
Growing rural businesses.
Each product that Essmart moves through our last-mile network improves the lives and livelihoods of rural businesses and households. Despite running businesses, shop owners often struggle with low-margin goods and high working capital costs. Over 83% of Essmart’s shop owners fall below the poverty line. By selling our innovative, durable, socially impactful products, rural retail shops can earn higher margins and increase their incomes by up to 40%.
We also help to ensure that their voices are heard up the supply chain, and their feedback is provided to suppliers so that they can design better products for rural villages.

Meet our customers!
Syed Salam Ahamed is a farmer from Renumakulapalle village in Andhra Pradesh. Initially he only grew ground nuts on his farm and lacked the know-how and means to grow other crops. After seeing improvements using a manual sprayer, Mr. Syed bought a non-Essmart battery-powered sprayer with the hope of using better inputs, but the sprayer was low quality and broke often, requiring a lot spending on repairs. Mr Syed then saw an Essmart Sales Executive demonstrating the ICS Double Pump Sprayer in one of Essmart’s agro-stores. After learning about Essmart’s warranty and after-sales support, he bought a double pump sprayer. With the help of Essmart’s Sales Executive, Syed learnt how to use the sprayer and maintain it properly. He is has had no repair issues and now grows a variety of more profitable crops on his 5-acre field.

Shashank Somanna is a farmer in Virajpet, Coorg. He grows coffee and recently learned about Essmart’s rapid soil test offering via our shops. He usually only puts NPK in his soil as per recommendation from dealers and planters around him. He has not done a soil test earlier as there are no centers nearby. The closest center is about 40 km from his place and it takes a week to get the report. In June, he took a sample from his field and dropped it at a local agro-shop, one of Essmart’s soil collection points. He received his soil test analysis report within 24 hours via SMS. Shashank found out he has boron deficiency in his soil with a microorganism count at 1%. The soil test analysis report helped him understand the exact condition of his soil and take the necessary steps to improve the health of his soil.

He recently purchased a SunKing Pro 300 product from a shop in Essmart’s last mile distribution network for his son who is currently studying for his 3rd standard. With the purchase of the SunKing product, his son is now able to study in the evening, and sometimes the light is used for night-time cooking.
